Advent of Analyzers

FCCAnalyses hackathon

9–11 December 2026, 09:00–17:00

CERN, 42/R-032 — in person, room for ∼15 people

  • Improve the analyzers used by the whole FCC community
    • refactor the C++ function you always found clunky
    • add the one you wish existed
    • finally write the missing unit tests or documentation
  • No deep framework knowledge required — just curiosity and some C++ or Python experience
  • Bring your laptop and your ideas — registration on Indico will open soon

FCCAnalyses

  • No new release since the last meeting — latest is still v0.13.1 from 8 September
  • Merged: #561 — handling of condor logs and output on the pre-edm4hep1 branch
  • In progress
    • DIRAC grid submission — #538, together with consolidating input resolution between the runner and grid submission (#557)
    • Integrated CMS Combine backend — #520
    • Selections — index-based selection (#502), new pre-/final-selection method and do_plots features (#513)
    • Jet truth labelling — ghost association, hadron/parton ghost labels, truth jets (#549–#554)
      • Discussed in the next slot today

Visualisation

  • Phoenix@FCC — releases v0.3.6 and v0.3.7 (1–2 October)
    • Updated detector geometries, including FCC-hh, with transparency and linked opaque volumes
    • ILD logo added
  • root2gltf — releases v2.1.0 and v2.2.0
    • Random colour for volumes without a defined one
    • Optionally increased transparency of the outer volumes
    • Flags renamed to match the dd4hep2root ones
  • FCCVisualization — interactive visualisations with multiple backends
    • Presented by Amir H. Ebrahimnejad later today
